Article 7 : union service
7.1 In recognition of the fact that service for the Union can limit the ability of Employees to make themselves available for full employment, the Employer agrees to pay the Union by 30 September of each year the equivalent of nine and one half (9.5) Full Appointments at the level of Teaching Assistant. In years when the Collective Agreement must be renegotiated, the Employer agrees to pay the Union the equivalent of three (3) additional Full Appointments at the level of Teaching Assistant, to be paid thirty (30) days after Notice to Bargain.
7.2 The Union shall advise the Employer in writing of all members of the Union bargaining committee. The Parties agree to schedule negotiating sessions so that the work schedules of Employees are not unnecessarily disrupted. Nevertheless, where the Parties agree to a negotiating session that is in conflict with an Employee's work schedule, the Academic Labour Relations shall notify the Supervisor(s) of the Employee(s) that the absence of the Employee has been authorized by the University as a paid leave.
