Vacation leave

Faculty members, counsellors and language teachers

Each academic year, you are entitled to 22 days of vacation leave, provided you are employed with the University for the full academic year. If your employment with the University is shorter than a full academic year, your vacation leave will be reduced proportionally.

You may take your vacation leave at any time during or in the six months following the current academic year, provided you notify your dean and your leave does not interfere with your assigned duties. Any unused vacation leave is forfeited unless, for good reason, the dean grants you an extension.

You cannot take vacation leave during the first half of the academic year when you are first appointed at the University.

Librarians

Each calendar year, you are entitled to 22 days of vacation leave, provided you have completed a full year of continuous service in the previous year. If you have not completed a full year of continuous service in the previous year, your vacation leave is reduced proportionally.

You must take your vacation leave during the calendar year in which it is due. You may carry over up to 10 days of vacation leave to the following year, which must be used before the end of that year. If you obtain approval from the University Librarian, you may be permitted to carry over more than 10 days.

You must submit a leave form at the end of the month in which you took your vacation leave.
