Family responsibility leave
Family responsibility leave is an unpaid job-protected time off work for up to 3 days per calendar year. This leave may be taken because of an illness, injury, medical emergency or urgent matter relating to one or more of the following relatives:
- Your spouse
- A parent, step-parent, foster parent, child, step-child, foster child, grandparent, step-grandparent, grandchild or step-grandchild of you or your spouse
- The spouse of your child
- Your brother or sister
- A relative who is dependent on you for care or assistance
The 3 days of family responsibility leave do not have to be taken all at once. However, the University can count any part of a day taken off as a full day of the leave.
